Why ‘JARCUN’…………the name and the inspiration

The Meaning Behind the Name JARCUN

At JARCUN, this story isn’t just personal, it guides how we work with clients; with patience, resilience, and practical support for those navigating business pressure and uncertainty.

The business name JARCUN is a combination of my surname Jarvis, and ‘CUN’ is from Cunningham, homage to my grandfather.

My grandfather, John Edwin Cunningham, continues to inspire how I approach life and work. Although he is no longer with us, stories of his life remain strong within our family and the local community in the Mallee region of northeast Victoria.

He loved the land, farming, and his family, and like many who work the land, he faced relentless mental, physical, and financial challenges. His success in business was hard-earned and often came in the face of devastating setbacks: seasons of hard yakka wiped out by frost or flood, mental health challenges that halted farm operations, and financial pressure that never truly lifted.

Despite this, he worked tirelessly, often 16-hour days, to provide for his family and build a future he could be proud of.

When I find myself questioning decisions or feeling the weight of self doubt, I think of him. His perseverance, motivation, and tenacity remind me to pause, reassess, and keep moving forward with purpose.

That perspective shapes how I show up for business owners, particularly those under pressure, stretched thin, or navigating uncertainty.

The values I learned directly influence how I work with clients. I understand that behind every business are real people, real pressure, and real consequences. My role is to provide calm, practical, evidence-based support so business owners can make informed decisions and build something sustainable for themselves.
